Rubber O-Rings can be manufactured from a wide range of rubber and silicone materials as seen on the material page to suit many applications including: Marine, Aerospace, Automotive and General industry, many of which expose our custom seals to hostile environments.
The international standard ISO 3601 shows a comprehensive list of standard O-Rings. The majority of these are in Nitrile-70. However, if you require an O-Ring which is not Nitrile-70 we can manufacture to ISO 3601 sizes but in most of the rubber materials as stated on our materials page.
Please note that each rubber material shrinks at a different rate and so the tooling used to manufacture an ISO 3601 Nitrile-70 O-Ring will not be suitable for manufacturing an O-Ring in a different material. For example, most Nitrile-70’ shrink at 1.8% and most of our Silicones shrink at 3-4%. As a result we have customers who purchase standard size O-Rings but have custom sized O-Ring tools to allow for material compensation.

Custom rubber seals can be manufactured in a range of colours and shore hardness depending on the application and material. The seals and O Rings can be manufactured in a fully controlled vacuum environment to reduce the risk of air bubbles and voids forming under the surface of the seal. This is very important on Aerospace and high pressure seals.

Custom Rubber L Seals
These seals take on a ‘L’ shaped cross section with an extra ring to provide additional support. L seals provide a good seal against single direction linear pressure. L Seals may be appropriate where high gland fill is a problem such as on T seals. Butser Rubber provide L seals to a substantial market within the Automotive, Marine and Aerospace industries. Full traceability can be requested on spec materials , and we currently offer rubber seals that meet many Def Stan, DTD, BS, AMS and TS requirements. We can inspect and supply documentation for moulded rubber O rings and seals to ‘FAIR AS9102’ and ‘PPAP level 3’.
